IDnow
IDnow sells identity verification, fraud prevention and electronic signatures to banks, lenders, insurers, crypto firms, telecoms and gaming operators from its base in Munich, with offices in Berlin, Dusseldorf, London and Rennes and more than 500 staff. AutoIdent checks a document and a live selfie automatically with AI, VideoIdent puts a trained specialist on a video call, and IDCheck serves the French market. Risk Intelligence adds device, email, phone and behavioral signals against deepfakes, synthetic identities and account takeover, and an anti money laundering (AML) screening service matches customers against sanctions, politically exposed person and adverse media lists at onboarding and afterward.
The Trust Platform ties these together behind one interface. A rules engine decides when to approve automatically, when to step up a check and when to route a case to manual review, and a case viewer shows what passed, failed or raised a warning at each step and why.
IDnow Trust Services AB issues qualified electronic signatures and seals under the European eIDAS rules, and in October 2026 added qualified preservation and qualified electronic archiving, so a bank can keep onboarding records with one qualified provider for their full retention period. The company states more than 600 enterprise customers, TF Bank, Younited, Hanseatic Bank and AIB among them, and Corsair Capital is its majority owner.

Automated checks are the engine of AutoIdent: document analysis, face matching against the ID photo, and liveness that reads blinking, head movement and reflections to catch replays, masks and deepfakes. Much of what IDnow sells would still run without models, including VideoIdent's human specialists, the national electronic identity schemes and the qualified signature and seal services.
Each customer picks the mode that fits its risk: automated checks in seconds for low risk journeys, a trained specialist verifying the person live on video for regulated or high risk cases, or staff checks at a branch counter. On the Trust Platform the customer's own rules set when a case is approved automatically, stepped up or routed to manual review, and AML screening escalates high risk matches. More than 775 specialists in 12 centers across eight countries handle the expert fallback, customers choose which ident centers serve them, and sensitive fraud operator actions need dual approval.
False acceptance or rejection rates and confidence scores are not published. Each decision can be traced in the Trust Platform's case viewer, which shows what passed, failed or raised a warning at each check and why, beside approval and conversion analytics by market.
Independent conformity assessment stands behind the automated checks: AutoIdent is certified against TS 119 461, the European standard for remote identity proofing, and image quality checks prompt a clearer capture rather than rejecting a blurry or badly lit one.
TF Bank replaced a manual process that took up to seven days with AutoIdent and an instant qualified signature, and reports a 10 percent rise in conversion from application to customer, processing time down 99.9 percent and verification in two to five minutes. Younited, a French instant credit provider, cut onboarding processing time by 50 percent with automated identity verification and saw 20 percent fewer bank document errors and 30 percent fewer identity document errors.
The mutual insurer MGP has verified more than 50,000 documents since 2020, each in under 10 seconds. Hanseatic Bank, AIB and 21X speak for the product by name, and Gojob runs 2 million applications a year through it.
Whether one customer's verification images and outcomes train the models serving others goes unanswered, and Risk Intelligence cross references faces, templates and devices across the verification lifecycle without saying whether that crosses customer boundaries. The data handling that is published is specific: master keys in on premise hardware security modules, retention tied to the contract, deletion on request and production data kept out of testing.
The privacy architecture is set out in specifics. IDnow acts as data processor under Article 28 of the General Data Protection Regulation across its services, keeps personal data only as long as the customer agreement or law requires, deletes it on customer or end user request with deletion certificates available, and lists its subprocessors by product, from hosting operators to the outside ident centers.
A public trust center offers a group wide ISO 27001:2022 certificate covering IDnow GmbH, IDnow SAS, IDnow Romania and IDnow UK, a level 3 automotive industry security assessment and the qualified signature component certificates as open downloads.
Customers can also obtain an International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE) 3402 Type 2 report for VideoIdent, this year's penetration test reports and a CyberVadis rating, and external testers probe every customer facing service at least once a year.
IDnow Trust Services AB is a qualified trust service provider supervised in Sweden and listed on the EU Trusted List. It is certified to issue qualified signatures, seals and timestamps, qualified attestations of attributes since August 2026 and, since October 2026, qualified preservation and qualified electronic archiving under the revised eIDAS rules.
AutoIdent, VideoIdent and IdentityTM are certified as qualified signature components against European identity proofing standards, and IDCheck carries a French remote identity verification certificate from ANSSI, valid until July 2027.
Face matching and liveness decide who opens an account, and IDnow publishes no performance figures across skin tone, age or gender for either check. Its inclusivity statement says the company actively works to eliminate biases in its technology, a policy commitment with nothing measured behind it so far.
IDnow publishes no guarantee or indemnity for a wrong automated decision. What it does give the person affected is a way back: a blurry or badly lit capture prompts a new attempt instead of a rejection, and journeys can fall back to a trained specialist who reviews the case by video.
The subprocessor list names every party by product and location: IDnow's own entities, four hosting operators, technical providers such as Microblink for document text recognition in IdentityTM and Signicat for chip reads, the qualified trust service providers Namirial and DocuSign, and the outside ident centers in Croatia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece and India. The verification core itself is built in house.
IDnow names no core banking connector. Public application programming interface (API) documentation covers the platform, AutoIdent, VideoIdent with eID and signing, and IDCheck, with software development kits for web and mobile, and the service providers it names include Tink for bank account checks under German money laundering rules, Signicat for chip reading and nCino for screening in IDCheck.
All hosting sits inside the European Union, with each product's data center named: Noris Network in Nuremberg and Aschheim for VideoIdent and AutoIdent, BLUE in Brittany for IDCheck, Telekom Deutschland and q.beyond in Ulm for IdentityTM, and AWS in Frankfurt and Paris for the Trust Platform. Master encryption keys stay in IDnow's own hardware security modules, out of the cloud providers' reach, and the platform is sold as hosted software.
Rates, tiers and billing units go unpublished for verification, fraud signals and signatures alike, so the cost of a check depends on a sales conversation. TF Bank's head of expansion calls the collaboration highly cost effective, a view rather than a number a buyer can price against.
Financial services is the lead market, with retail and challenger banks, wealth and investment platforms, buy now pay later providers and business onboarding with beneficial owner checks addressed together on one financial services page. Insurance has its own page, covering policyholder onboarding, claims, beneficiary checks and commercial lines, and so does crypto, from centralized exchanges and wallets to token issuers, beside telecoms, gaming, mobility and hiring. Customers run across Europe, from the mutual insurer MGP in France to the small business lender Teylor.
