Avaloq vs Crealogix (2026)

Last VerifiedOctober 13, 2026
Verdict

The real decision is whether a private bank needs a new core or a better front end on the core it already runs. Avaloq is the core. One platform carries client management, portfolio management, trading, payments and lending for more than 170 clients in 35 countries, as cloud software or on premises, and Avaloq will also run the back office as a service. Crealogix is the front end. Its Digital Hub connects to an existing core and supplies the client portals, apps and adviser tools. LGT shows the two can sit together: its banking units run on Avaloq, and its UK wealth firm built the SmartWealth app and portal with Crealogix. Their AI faces opposite ways. Avaloq's agent works out of sight, turning corporate action notices into structured data and helping prepare client notifications in several languages. Crealogix's assistant talks with customers by chat and voice. Avaloq can also show vendor management ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 22301 certificates in a public trust center, where Crealogix names only ISO 9001 for quality management. Neither names the model under its AI or says who carries the loss when it gets something wrong.

Select Avaloq if
  • The core banking system itself is due for replacement. Avaloq runs client management, portfolio management, trading, payments and lending in one platform, so the books of record and the front office work from one data model.
  • Back office headcount is the cost to cut. Avaloq's Banking Operations service runs the processing from six service centers in four countries, and its corporate actions agent is live for 80 percent of those clients, according to the Datos Insights adviser quoted on its award.
  • Investment teams already work in Aladdin. Avaloq offers a prebuilt integration with Aladdin Wealth by BlackRock, which spares the bank building that connection itself.
  • Vendor management asks for certificates before a shortlist. Avaloq's trust center lists ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 22301:2019 and keeps the certificates and the statement of applicability among its resources.
Select Crealogix if
  • The core banking system stays where it is. Crealogix's Digital Hub connects to it and adds client portals, apps and adviser tools on top, so the change reaches clients without a migration.
  • Paperless reporting and secure messaging are the client goals. LGT's UK wealth firm reports a marked rise in paperless reporting after launching its SmartWealth app and portal on Crealogix.
  • Most client contact still arrives by phone. Crealogix's assistant answers callers by voice as well as in chat, and each conversation shows the bank where its service falls short.
  • The bank prefers a smaller supplier with a Swiss base. Crealogix has more than 380 digital experts and serves more than 600 customers in 15 countries from Zurich.

In Summary

The short version of each

Avaloq

Avaloq sells a front to back platform for private banks, wealth managers and retail banks, covering client management, portfolio management, trading, payments and lending in one system. More than 170 clients in 35 countries run it, as cloud software or on premises, and its Banking Operations service also runs the back office for clients from six centers in four countries. The AI that ships today sits in that service: a corporate actions agent that turns SWIFT messages and prospectuses into structured data. NEC has owned Avaloq since 2020.

Crealogix

Crealogix builds the digital layer of a bank from Zurich. Its Digital Hub delivers client portals, mobile apps and adviser tools over the bank's existing core, and the company also sells a lending origination hub, a funding portal for development banks and a server for corporate payment files. Crealogix Conversational AI answers customers by chat and voice in more than 15 languages. In the AI FinTech Index, Crealogix publishes less on security than Avaloq, naming ISO 9001 for quality management and no information security certificate. Vencora has owned it since 2024.

Buyer Questions

Common questions

Can a bank run Crealogix on top of Avaloq?

In practice, yes. LGT runs its banking units on Avaloq, and LGT's UK wealth management firm built its SmartWealth app and client portal with Crealogix. Crealogix positions the Digital Hub as the layer that unifies core and third party systems, so the connection to an Avaloq core is project work to scope and price in the proposal rather than a packaged product. Graded by AI FinTech Index against the same capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified October 13, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.

Where does each vendor's AI touch the end client?

Crealogix's does so directly: its assistant answers bank customers in chat and through a voice agent, and no rule is published for when it hands a conversation to a person. Avaloq's corporate actions agent never speaks to a client. Its output reaches account holders as entitlements booked in the core and notifications sent out, so a mistake surfaces later, as a wrong position rather than a wrong answer. Graded by AI FinTech Index against the same capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified October 13, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.

What can each show a bank's information security team?

Avaloq's public trust center lists ISO 27001:2022, covering several of its products, services and internal processes, and ISO 22301:2019 for business continuity, with the certificates among its resources. SOC 2 appears there without a report type. Crealogix names ISO 9001, a quality standard, and the ISO 27001 and SOC wording in its data protection policy refers to DocuSign, the signature service it uses. Graded by AI FinTech Index against the same capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified October 13, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.

What should a bank put in the contract with either vendor?

Three terms neither publishes belong in the contract: the model behind the AI and who hosts it, who carries the loss when the AI is wrong, and the hosting region for customer data. The loss question reads differently for each, a corporate action booked wrongly at Avaloq against a balance quoted wrongly by Crealogix's assistant. Avaloq at least offers on premises installation, which settles residency for a bank that takes it. Disclosure

Avaloq's accuracy, time saving and adoption figures for the corporate actions agent come from a Datos Insights adviser quoted on Avaloq's award announcement. Crealogix's service figures come from its own product page and name no customer. NEC Corporation has owned Avaloq since 2020, and Constellation Software's Vencora group bought Crealogix in 2024 and took it off the stock exchange that year.
