Know Your Customer

Know Your Customer sells know your business (KYB) and know your customer (KYC) software to banks, payment firms, corporate service providers and other regulated businesses that onboard companies. KYC Workspace runs corporate and small business onboarding on risk based workflows, KYC Data delivers registry and anti money laundering data through one application programming interface, and KYC Review refreshes company records automatically and screens every customer, shareholder and beneficial owner against sanctions, politically exposed person and adverse media lists. It connects live to more than 500 local registries in 153 jurisdictions, pulling filings at the moment of a check rather than from a cached database.

The AI sits in document and ownership work. A proprietary mix of optical character recognition, machine learning and natural language processing turns scanned registry filings into structured data, an AI based engine traces shareholders and beneficial owners through nominee and holding entities across borders, and an AI agent now runs registry searches without an integration. Identity checks validate documents from more than 180 countries with facial recognition and liveness detection. Founded in Hong Kong in 2015, with offices in Hong Kong, Dublin, Singapore, Shanghai and London, it names DBS Hong Kong, Standard Chartered Hong Kong, Ping An OneConnect Bank and Hamburg Commercial Bank among its clients, and sells single company records by card at a price shown before purchase.

Capability Axes

Capability grades

15 of 15 axes rated · 10 graded A or B

AI Capability
AI Centrality
BB on AI CentralityThe models are the engine of a core capability, layered on a product that would still function without them as a rules or workflow system.
Vendor Published

The models carry the core work of turning registry filings into usable data. Optical character recognition, machine learning and natural language processing convert scanned filings into structured fields in real time, and an AI based engine resolves ownership through nominee and holding entities to the ultimate owners. The workflow, risk rules, screening and review scheduling would still run without them, but the registry material feeding them would arrive as unread documents.

Autonomy and Oversight Model
BB on Autonomy and Oversight ModelA written commitment that the models work alongside human judgment, with real review surfaces, short of the full control structure: commonly the threshold at which the system stops or what happens after it is wrong.
Vendor Published

Automation stops at the point of judgment. KYC Review refreshes company records on each customer's risk schedule, closes the case automatically when no change is found, and flags new directors, shareholders and other material changes for review, while new screening matches go straight to compliance staff.

Through the API, the platform returns the registry record, the ownership chain, documents and screening result, and it decides a case only where the client has configured rules to do so, with each accept or reject recorded against the person who made it. No confidence threshold is published for the extraction or ownership engine. Every anti money laundering decision, including false positive exclusions, is recorded, and the firm states that a client cannot hand its anti money laundering function to it.

Model Risk Management and Transparency
CC on Model Risk Management and TransparencyTransparency is claimed in general terms with no mechanism a model validator could interrogate.
Vendor Published

Know Your Customer publishes no extraction accuracy, ownership resolution error rate or validation method for its models. Each company record arrives with the original registry filings beside the structured report built from them, so a reviewer can check the resolved ownership chain against its sources, and every action and review step sits in an immutable record with the documentary evidence.

Operational and Outcome Evidence
BB on Operational and Outcome EvidenceVendor aggregate claims with real figures, or audited scale disclosures from a publicly listed company.
Vendor Published

The figures published, 95 percent faster onboarding and an average response of 1.2 seconds for the AI agent, are not tied to a named client. The named clients carry the weight instead: DBS Hong Kong works with Know Your Customer to streamline customer due diligence and automate small business onboarding, Standard Chartered Hong Kong uses it to simplify small business loan applications and reviews, and Neat Commerce chief executive David Rosa is quoted on its support for Neat's growth.

AI Safety and Data Stewardship
BB on AI Safety and Data StewardshipA categorical stewardship commitment is published without the retention schedule or the engineering detail behind it.
Vendor Published

Whether client data trains the extraction or ownership models is not stated. The boundary that is stated is categorical: all client account data is encrypted and every account is completely isolated from the others. The privacy statement also says Anthropic, used for internal operational analytics, is not used to automate customer facing communications or to take decisions affecting individuals.

Regulatory and Compliance
GLBA and Data Privacy Posture
BB on GLBA and Data Privacy PostureA substantive privacy document that reaches the product itself, short of the subprocessor list or the full data handling detail.
Vendor Published

The privacy statement sets out both roles: a processor for the customers of its client institutions, whose data remains accessible only to the engaging client, and a controller for its own marketing and corporate data, with a public list of the subprocessors behind those controller activities. The platform's own subprocessor list goes to clients through their contracts. Stated security measures include multi factor authentication, 256 bit encryption at rest and encrypted transport, and retention follows statutory requirements and internal policy.

Security Certifications and Trust Center
CC on Security Certifications and Trust CenterA single footer line, or certifications asserted without being enumerated, which is weaker than naming them because it invites an assumption a buyer cannot check.
Vendor Published

The company names no certification, attestation report or trust portal of its own. Security rests on Microsoft Azure's infrastructure and on the controls the company describes: multi factor authentication with role based access, 256 bit encryption at rest, encrypted transport and regular audits.

In the standard product, webhook deliveries carry no authentication header or signature, so the receiving endpoint has to be kept private, and encrypted delivery is available as an extension negotiated client by client.

Regulatory Status and Licensure
BB on Regulatory Status and LicensureThe regulatory position is clearly stated and appropriate to the product, with part of the verification left to the buyer.
Vendor Published

The regulatory position is stated plainly: Know Your Customer supplies information and tooling, and its clients keep their anti money laundering obligations, which they cannot delegate or outsource. Single company records are sold with the buyer acting as an independent data controller responsible for its own lawful basis. It claims no license or supervisor of its own, which fits a data and software supplier.

AI Governance and Bias Disclosure
DD on AI Governance and Bias DisclosureNothing published on a product where the bias risk is concrete, such as credit decisioning or underwriting with no fair lending, disparate impact or adverse action disclosure.
Vendor Published

Identity checks include facial recognition, face comparison and liveness detection on documents from more than 180 countries, run through Au10tix, a check with a known demographic bias risk, and no evaluation of how it performs across groups is published by Know Your Customer or tied to that provider. No AI governance policy or named review process appears either. What the platform does show is control over outcomes: every screening decision is recorded, and material changes reach a person before a record is updated.

AI Liability and Recourse
CC on AI Liability and RecourseMechanisms that enable challenge, such as audit trails and source traceability, with nothing standing behind the output and no route for the person affected.
Vendor Published

A company whose ownership is resolved wrongly has no described route to correct it, and the client keeps all of its anti money laundering responsibility. What Know Your Customer offers toward a challenge is the immutable record of every action, decision and false positive exclusion, with the registry documents kept as evidence.

Integration and Deployment
Model Supply Chain Disclosure
CC on Model Supply Chain DisclosureThe architecture is described and no provider is named.
Vendor Published

Extraction runs on what the company calls proprietary technology, combining optical character recognition, machine learning and natural language processing. Identity verification comes from a specialist provider, which its developer documentation names as Au10tix, while the models behind the AI agent and the ownership engine go unnamed. Microsoft Azure hosts the platform, and the platform's subprocessor list goes to clients under contract. Anthropic appears only among the suppliers to the company's own internal operations.

Core Systems and Integration Depth
BB on Core Systems and Integration DepthNamed systems or a documented public API, with the depth or the production evidence left open.
Vendor Published

KYC Data is the layer other systems call, exposing registry, ownership and screening data through one application programming interface with a public reference and a sandbox built to return the same answers as production, with its deliberate differences listed so an integration suite can test against it.

Ten webhook event types push case changes to the client, while screening alerts from ongoing monitoring are collected by polling, and review dates can be set on each case for periodic re review. Named partners include Napier, Hawk AI, Provenir and Dow Jones, the AI agent runs registry searches with no integration at all, and a server for the Model Context Protocol is announced as coming soon.

Deployment Model and Data Residency
BB on Deployment Model and Data ResidencyStated residency commitments or regional hosting options.
Vendor Published

The platform runs on Microsoft Azure without a published list of regions, and clients are told that because the data belongs to them, they control where it is stored and how it is accessed and deleted. A published service level agreement backs the hosted service with credits against monthly fees when uptime falls short, acknowledgement of support queries within 24 hours, resolution within 24 hours for an outage and 72 hours for issues such as a failed jurisdiction or missing screening results, and at least 90 days notice of adverse changes. Releases run outside business hours with up to two weeks notice to affected clients.

Commercial
Commercial Transparency
BB on Commercial TransparencyA published plan ladder, billing dimensions, or a stated commitment such as no fees, so a buyer can size the cost before making contact.
Vendor Published

Single company records are sold on demand by card, with one price per record shown before purchase, no contract, minimum, subscription or sales call, and a price that varies by jurisdiction with each register's own charges. The platform products, KYC Workspace, KYC Data and KYC Review, are priced through a demo request.

Institution and Segment Coverage
BB on Institution and Segment CoverageNamed segments with dedicated material behind part of the coverage.
Vendor Published

Banking, payments, corporate services and real estate each have their own industry page, and clients span 11 sectors in 18 jurisdictions, from Tier 1 banks and a virtual bank in Hong Kong to an electronic money institution in Lithuania and fintechs in Europe.

Registry reach is wider than the client base: Know Your Customer connects to more than 500 local registries in 153 jurisdictions, down to provincial level in Canada, where it lists what each province returns and how fast, from real time in British Columbia to a two hour registry extract in Alberta. The weight of its clients sits in Asia and Europe, where its offices are.
