EIS vs OneShield (2026)
Carriers replacing a property and casualty core with both of these on the list are choosing where the AI should live. EIS builds it into the core. Since October 2025 EIS OneSuite has run on CoreGentic, which puts AI agents, agentic orchestration and plain language configuration inside policy, billing and claims, and EIS had its AI management system certified to ISO/IEC 42001 by CPSI Certifications in June 2025. AIG Canada launched 27 new products in 11 months on OneSuite, and Industrial Alliance Auto and Home went live on the CoreGentic release in January 2026. OneShield keeps the AI beside the core. Its AI Hub runs agents over OneShield Enterprise, Market Solutions or any other core system through the Model Context Protocol, and a zero data retention agreement with Anthropic keeps AI Hub inputs and outputs out of storage and training. Market Solutions adds a managed service on one subscription covering implementation, support and upgrades. EIS reaches past property and casualty into life, group benefits and absence management. Neither names its cloud provider or publishes a price.
- The carrier writes life, group benefits or absence business alongside property and casualty. EIS OneSuite covers all of those lines on one core, with pet insurance as well.
- The board wants AI inside the system of record, not bolted beside it. CoreGentic runs agents and plain language configuration within policy, billing and claims, governed by the core's own rules and permissions.
- The audit committee wants an AI management standard on file. EIS holds ISO/IEC 42001 certification for its AI management system, audited by CPSI Certifications.
- Speed to market is the test. AIG Canada launched 27 new products across four product lines in 11 months on OneSuite.
- Replacing the core is not on the table this year, but AI is. OneShield's AI Hub works over any existing core system, so a runoff book or a small line can get automation without a migration.
- Finance wants one predictable bill for the core. Market Solutions bundles implementation, support and upgrades into a single subscription and delivers new AI capabilities inside it.
- Policyholder data must never feed a model provider. OneShield's zero data retention agreement with Anthropic keeps AI Hub inputs and outputs out of storage, logs and training.
- The carrier would rather not manage a chain of integrators. OneShield's own teams lead every implementation.

The short version of each
EIS
EIS OneSuite is a cloud native core for policy administration, billing, claims and customer management across property and casualty, life and annuities, group benefits, absence management and pet insurance, deployable in the cloud, on premises or hybrid. CoreGentic embeds agents grounded in an insurer's own knowledge base and governed by its business rules and permissions. ClaimGuard scores claims for fraud risk, and Sompo Japan's version is trained only on Sompo Japan's data. In the AI FinTech Index, both cores carry named customer figures, and only EIS has its AI management system certified.

OneShield
OneShield sells two property and casualty cores: OneShield Enterprise for personal, commercial and specialty lines, spanning policy, billing, rating, claims and reinsurance, and OneShield Market Solutions, a managed service for commercial and specialty carriers and managing general agents. Insurers process more than $20 billion in premiums on them. The AI Hub lets carriers build, deploy and govern their own agents or pick from an insurance library, and adjusters at the Medical Insurance Exchange of California use a claims document assistant that links every answer to its source passage.

Common questions
Where does the AI sit in each?
Inside the core at EIS, where CoreGentic agents work in policy, billing and claims workflows and can be triggered by plain language commands or by events. Beside the core at OneShield, where the AI Hub runs agents over OneShield's platforms or another vendor's through the Model Context Protocol. Graded by AI FinTech Index against the same capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified October 13, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.
What do they say about data and model training?
OneShield names Anthropic as its AI partner under a zero data retention agreement and isolates each customer in a dedicated trust zone. EIS trains ClaimGuard's fraud model on a carrier's own data, as it does for Sompo Japan, and certifies its AI management system to ISO/IEC 42001, without naming the provider behind CoreGentic's generation. Graded by AI FinTech Index against the same capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified October 13, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.
Which lines of business does each support?
EIS covers property and casualty, life and annuities, group benefits, absence management and pet insurance. OneShield focuses on property and casualty, with material for personal, commercial, excess and surplus, and professional liability insurers, managing general agents and startups. Graded by AI FinTech Index against the same capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified October 13, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.
Where do both leave gaps?
Price, hosting and accuracy. Neither publishes a price or unit of charge, neither names its cloud provider or hosting regions, and neither publishes accuracy figures for its agents. Graded by AI FinTech Index against the same capability axes from each vendor's own published materials, verified October 13, 2026. No vendor pays for placement.
