Backbase made Conversational Banking generally available. Customers and staff state a need by voice or text, an AI agent maps it to a banking action such as blocking and reissuing a lost card or checking a payment, and it acts only within bank defined permissions, policies and approvals, with explicit customer confirmation for consequential requests and a record of context, decisions and outcomes. When a case needs human judgment, staff receive the relevant information and a summary of what the agent already did. Backbase says it is in production at more than 10 banks, including a large South African bank that has handled 22 million customer interactions with self service containment rising from 20% to 70%.
Our readBanks can move from assistants that answer questions to agents that complete routine service tasks inside limits they set, with an audit trail. The containment figures come from an unnamed bank with no stated method; Meriwest and VeraBank, longtime Kasisto customers, are quoted without numbers.
